I've been insanely busy with work lately but in my free time I've been playing with this. It's like mpdcontroller generation 2, it does cover art, it's threaded, it displays more info than the old one and it can seek. The code is basically mpdcontroller-0.0.4 with everything hacked in so it's messy as all hell but that'll improve. This is why I haven't submitted it yet ;)

This is just a test, I've been playing with it and I think it's almost stable enough for people to use, so give it a try and let me know how I can crash it so I know what to fix.

Ok, I just realised it'll crash if you try to play a stream but thats cool. Easily fixed, but not in the tarball currently available.

Cool job. :-)

Also discovered a massive memory leak. Shouldn't be too hard to fix but after continuous playback for around 18 hours, ps reported that the desklet was using 51.2% of my memory. I have a gig of RAM, so that cannot be a good thing ;)

I'll update the snapshot once I get that fixed.

Hello!
Thanks for your wonderful desklet, i've been trying to put it functioning.

I dont arrive to get covers in the desklet, I'm using the amazon support

[DEBUG] 4 result(s) from Amazon:
[DEBUG] Looking for: rush - moving pictures
[DEBUG] * Rush - Moving Pictures
[DEBUG] (EXACT)
[DEBUG] Retrieved image.

the applet saves the image at /tmp, but then It doesnt show anything.

Also, I've a large collection of music on mpd, the desklet use 50% of my CPU when it's playing

I'm using a gentoo box with updated packages

cheers

Hmm, that's weird. Does the desklet actually work or is it getting into an infinite loop somehow?

By magoscuro (User), on Tue Oct 11 22:49:13 2005.

It's works ok with mpd, It connects to mpd without problems, I've made my music collection little, and now the desklet takes only 10% of the cpu on an athlon 3000+.
I'm not getting any cover, I was reading the code, and I don't get it fixed.... I 've read on the rhytmlet forum that UTF-8 could be the problem.
But it's weird...

I've get this messages:

(gmpc:25034): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.

(gmpc:25034): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_key_file_add_group: assertion `g_key_file_lookup_group_node (key_file, group_name) == NULL' failed
