By syfou (Core Developer & Desklet Author), on Sun Oct 15 18:38:38 2006: What are dead desklets?.

Simply put, a given desklet is declared dead when a significant part of its user base is affected by one or many crippling bug that went unsolved for a long time (see also the graveyard). Users should not expect support when using them.

The rationale is that we should weed out desklets that could frustrate users because they are not always (or no longer) working as advertised. Obviously, this is a pretty loose, subjective definition, and I will not take part in public arguments about the status of individual desklets. Feel free to email me privately though (syfou@users.sourceforge.net).

P.-S. No desklet has to be dead forever: the ultimate argument for resurrecting a desklet is a patch that fixes the problem(s). ;-)
