By CitizenX (Themer / Graphic Artist), on Tue Mar 15 06:48:55 2005: Graphics anyone?.

I've been getting so much use out of adesklets, and since I started skinning adeskclock, I figured I'd offer my graphics skills to anyone who needed them for a desklet. I use a lot of GIMP and Blender to get my work done...but I'm always looking for new programs I can use to get what I want. If you want to see my work, look at the screenshot with two of my adeskclock skins, Silver and ClearSilver. The desktop is mine as well, in pure Blender.

If anyones interested, let me know.

Citizen X,

that's very gracious of you: you are the first one from the "graphically-skilled" crew to come forward. As too many developpers, I am clearly myself "graphically-impaired", so I especially appreciate your offer, although I have no work myself for you right now: as you know, I mainly wrote demos, with very little graphic elements.

Oh - I failed to realize you created it. Nice work! So you managed to use Blender? Personally, it reminded me too much of my dreaded autocad days designing valves in engineering classes, and it didn't last on my disk very long.

On another topic, do you have experience with vector graphic as well, or do you mainly concentrate on raster?

I created a Themer / Graphic Artist usergroup (see menu above). Feel free to ask for membership as soon as the adeskclock desklet with your work in it will have been included on the site. At the time of writing (Tue Mar 15 12:04:08 GMT-5 2005), I have not received jonmack's submission yet. Regards,

I figured until I get my python skills up, I might as well contribute in other ways, eh?
I've been using Blender for a long time now....its just a matter of learning the UI. Many people are turned off by it, but I've actually found it to be pretty powerful.
I haven't done much work with vector graphics, but I've been looking at SVG and it doesnt look that difficult...I think better in raster but it's just a matter of perspective.
The next version of adeskclock probably won't have my skins in it, as I have more skins and haven't heard from jon yet...but all 6 skins will be there soon enough (I hope.)

About adeskclock, I am pretty sure we will have news of jonmack eventually... Since he seemed as impressed by your skin as I was, I am pretty sure he will contact you in time.

I was enquirering about vector-oriented formats (SVG and such) because I was wondering if adesklets woudn't need some logo... The problem is I have no idea at all what it should be...
I could use something small and simple I could integrate on the site, in the htmlized documentation, etc.. And that would still looks good at various size from 32x32 to, let's say, 256x256.

I like the one from gDesklets:

http://gdesklets.gnomedesktop.org/images/logo.png.

it is both simple, cute, and evocative of what the software does... Let me know if you have insights.

CitizenX,

Your work on adeskclock looks very professional, as does the wallpaper you made in blender. If you're interested, I could use some original artwork for my acpumon desklet. Right now i'm using graphics from other gpl'd desklets. I tried making a theme myself, but to quote syfou
