Well, It would, but I am a bit reticent to post it so anybody can see it, because I am affraid it would enforce bias towards certain desklets (and somewhat demotivate some desklets authors), as people generally tend to assume better desklets get better download, which is obviously not entirely true...

But WeatherForecast is doing pretty well... I could send you the information privately if you want. If you have ideas on how this issue should be handled, feel free to share them (all the site code is inside the bitkeeper tree by the way, under site/).

Yes... Two or three problems with that:

• 
  
• adesklets-devel is not really private, as anyone can read the public archives and everyone can suscribes
  
• I am not sure all desklets writers would want to be spammed by me... But that's a minor concern, since we could very wel introduce a opt-in field in the submission process to ask if this kind of statistic should be communicated.
  
• cron jobs on sourceforge shell server are everything but reliable, and I do not wish to schedule this on one of my personal boxes if I can avoid it.
  
• The collection mechanism needs a rewrite, and I lack time to do it: right now, It misses a couple of hits...
  

That is probably the way. I will be waiting for your implementation :mrgreen: .

Just download the site from the bk tree, and play with it until you get it right... The easiest way is to install locally an apache server (with php support?) and write the appropriate scripting (php, perl, python, at your preference). Registration could be hooked through the forum, by a separate registration process, via the adesklets_submit script... As you wish. You have all the code at your disposal.
