What is adesklets?

adesklets is an interactive Imlib2 console for the X Window System. It provides to scripted languages a clean and simple way to write great looking, mildly interactive desktop integrated graphic applets (aka "desklets").

Getting started

To use adesklets, you first need to install it. It is now included in the ports collection of many BSDs, and as a native package in many Linux distributions. Alternatively, you can install it from source.

Then, you need some desklets. Unpack them, read their README, and follow the instructions.

If you run into problems, keep in mind you have a fairly complete manual at your fingertips.

So adesklets suddenly stopped working?

A lot of people had recently started to experience systematic segmentation faults with adesklets: complete explanation and fix available here.
